GDT Asked. I Said Obviously.
GDT asked. I said yes before anyone mentioned money.

So apparently I have an announcement.
GDT asked me to write for them.
Yes. That GDT.
More specifically, they’ve asked me to start something called Lisa’s Takes, where I get early access to selected Harmony Wear products, wear them in the real world, and then tell you what I actually think about them.
Which is either an extremely good idea or evidence that nobody at GDT has read anything I’ve ever written.
I asked if they were sure.
They said yes.
I asked if I was allowed to say something was ugly.
They said yes.
I asked if I was allowed to say something was stupid.
There was a slightly longer pause before they said yes.
So naturally, I’m in.
Before anybody gets excited about my glamorous new career: I am not employed by GDT. I am not being paid by GDT. Apparently the official term is independent contributor, which sounds considerably more impressive than woman receiving free clothes in exchange for having opinions on the internet.
I do get to keep some of the things they send me.
Daniel says this means I’m being paid in skirts.
Daniel can shut up.
The important part — and the reason I actually agreed to this — is that they don’t get to approve what I write. They’ll know what I’m reviewing, obviously, but the words are mine. If I love something, I’ll say so. If something makes me look like an upholstered dining chair, I will also say so.
And somehow they’re okay with that.
Honestly, I’m ridiculously proud they asked me.
I know it’s not a job. I know nobody is putting Senior Vice President of Complaining About Waistbands on my business card.
But somebody made something, somebody else decided my opinion about it might be worth hearing, and now they’re actually giving me a little corner to say it in.
That’s pretty fucking cool.
First Lisa’s Take coming soon.
I have already tried the thing on.
I have thoughts.
