A renewed library, open every morning.
Silverdale Public Library Reopens After Major Renovation
The renovation included a complete refurbishment of the main public areas, improved natural lighting, new shelving and reading spaces, upgraded study facilities and improvements to the building’s accessibility and energy efficiency. A significant part of the renovation was made possible through a community contribution from Redwood & Vale Construction, a Silverdale-based construction and property development company that has operated in the region for more than thirty years.
After several months of renovation, the Silverdale Public Library is ready to welcome residents back.
The project has substantially modernized the building while keeping its role as a familiar public space at the center of the community. The renewed library offers brighter reading areas, new shelving, improved study and computer facilities, better accessibility and considerably more natural light throughout the building.
The renovation was funded through the City’s public facilities program, with additional financial support from Redwood & Vale Construction, a locally based construction and property development company. The company’s contribution helped fund the new public reading areas, furniture and interior improvements.
With the renovation complete, the library will also introduce a simpler opening schedule. From September 1, it will be open seven days a week from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The same hours will apply on weekdays and weekends, making the morning opening times consistent throughout the week.
All regular library services will be available during staffed hours, including borrowing and returns, study spaces, public computers and assistance from library staff. The digital catalog and online lending services will remain available around the clock.
The Council will review visitor numbers and use of the renewed facilities during the first six months after reopening.
““A public library should be one of those places that simply belongs to everyone. This renovation gives Silverdale a library that is brighter, more useful and ready for another generation.” — Silverdale Community Council”
